The Institute of Materials and Processes (IMP) at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences specialises in developing and optimising production and manufacturing methods. It is a leading institute in the area of virtual material design. Further research activities include the continuous development of classic production methods, especially with respect to the machining of new materials, the optimization of the value chains in the area of industrial production, and the interlinking of processes, and also the development of new types of cutting materials for the machining of materials that are commonly used in the aviation industry. The team, in cooperation with industrial partners, quickly implements and verifies ideas, with the assistance of state-of-the-art testing facilities.
